The worst fears about Joe Biden’s open borders immigration policies are now a reality. In March, the surge of migrants illegally breaching our southern border was up almost 500% from the same time last year. But it is not just impoverished Mexican and Central American migrants seeking economic opportunities coming across the border.
US Border Patrol confirmed Wednesday that they apprehended a “documented MS-13 gang member” after he crossed illegally into California. The man, a 28-year El Salvadorian national, was caught along with five other foreign national men.
Border Patrol also confirmed that they caught Yemeni men on the FBI’s Terrorist Watch List and No-Fly-List entering the United States through the California-Mexico border on two separate occasions. Perplexingly, this notification was posted on the Border patrol website but is no longer available to the public.
On January 29, border agents apprehended an unidentified Yemeni man possessing a cell phone and SIM cards hidden underneath his shoe. Criminals often use Anonymous “pay-as-you-go” SIM cards to conduct their business without being identified.
At the same crossing, border patrol arrested another Yemeni man, on the Terrorist Watch List and No Fly List, on March 30.
A few weeks ago, some on the left mocked and called Republican Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy a liar when he warned that suspected terrorists are entering the US through the southern border.
Rep. Ruben Gallego (TX-D) expressed skepticism about McCarthy’s claims tweeting he was “pretty sure he is either wrong or lying.” Rep. Veronica Escobar (TX-D) also called McCarthy’s assertions dubious.
Not surprisingly, the Democrat lawmakers disparaging McCarthy’s credibility are now silent.
Before leaving office, former President Trump also warned that “we have terrorists from the Middle East coming into our country through the southern border.”
According to former Acting Secretary of Homeland Security Chad Wolf, he and his staff held numerous meetings with the incoming Biden team warning them about the consequences of dismantling the Trump-era immigration policies.
These warnings were unheeded. On Biden’s first day in office, he began unwinding all of the Trump administration’s immigration policies, which had effectively solved the border crisis.
Consequently, more than 300,000 migrants crossed into the US in February and March. March saw the highest monthly in 20 years. And there is no end in sight. Officials anticipate that 2 million migrants will illegally enter the US through the southern border by the end of this year.
It is not hyperbole to say that criminals south of the border have more control over who crosses into the US than US Border Patrol agents. Biden has made it US policy to welcome every unaccompanied “child’ who self-reports to be 17 or under and most family units with a young child into the US. Incredibly, detention centers are referred to as “reception” centers by the Biden administration. Because of Biden’s policies, many illegal migrants are transported to cities throughout the US without even being given a court date to have their asylum claim adjudicated.
Shamefully, because of the surge at the border, border patrol resources are being consumed with processing and caring for illegal migrants. According to former Acting Director of US immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), Tom Homan, during an appearance on Fox News, border patrol has reassigned almost half of its force from protecting the border to caring for illegal migrants.
To date, there are more than 20,000 unaccompanied minors in US facilities, courtesy of the US taxpayers, costing approximately $1000 a day per child for a total of $60 million a week.
Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH), who traveled to the border on Wednesday, stated that Texas Sherriff Louderback told him that
“the surge currently at the border is unlike anything they have ever seen…this is complete chaos.”
However, the massive influx of migrants apprehended at the border is only part of the problem.
Currently, more than 6,000 migrants are illegally crossing the US border every day. Incredibly, border officials estimate that 1,000 are crossing into the US without being identified or taken into custody. Because border agents are consumed with processing and transporting unaccompanied minors and family units into the US, fewer agents are available to protect the border.
The Washington Post explains that Mexican criminal organizations are sending groups of 100 or more family members and unaccompanied minors to create a diversion, allowing them to move narcotics and single adults across the border undetected. Unidentified migrants who successfully make it across the border, evading capture, are labeled as “got aways”.
How many of these got aways are terrorists, gang members, or serious criminals? It is only logical to assume that those sneaking over the border attempting to evade capture are not predominately law-abiding individuals.
According to the left-leaning Washington Post,
“There is broad consensus that the got aways often include previous deportees, some with serious criminal records, who pay premiums to smugglers who can reduce their chances of capture.”
How many criminals, gang members, and narcotics have made it over the border undetected? How many Americans will suffer from a drug overdose or become victims of violent crimes because of our nonexistent southern border? Will the next terrorist attack be perpetrated by one of the “got aways”?
Does Biden care? Is he even aware?
Shamefully, the Biden administration is yet to admit that the situation at the border is a crisis. And neither Vice President Harris, the appointed border point person, nor Joe Biden has bothered to travel to the southern border to evaluate the situation first-hand. Moreover, no one in the Biden administration has proposed any changes to their immigration policies to stop the flow of migrants surging across our border.
Biden is either the most most incompetent president in history or he doesn’t care. Either option is likely true.
